Poem: Camera

Inspired by the poem Mirror by Sylvia Plath.

I record myself for people

My videos always show people smiling

We are a row of teeth, like ivory pearls

My friends are props, the background my set

My life ends in 15 seconds

My role takes practice, I try hard

After the 500th attempt, my commercial is perfect

I’m swallowed immediately by my fans

This is important to me

As I review my moments, I flicker

I’m not liar, just a surgeon

Who has replaced their face, I’m beautiful

I’m water, better drank filtered

This philosophy that makes me sparkle

The bags my eyes carry are heavy

But appear lifted as you playback my life
